SMALL BUSINESS
As a small business owner and job creator, Vicki understands first hand how tax burdens and excessive regulations hurt small businesses growth. Vicki will advocate for small businesses to help them flourish. She also supports Representative Erin Pare’s proposed legislation, HB 11, which would make taxes on tips, overtime and bonus pay tax free.

Vicki owns two local coffee shops and gift boutiques, employing over 15 people. She can be found greeting and serving members of the community alongside her staff on a daily basis. Her business continues to welcome first responders as a meeting place for “Coffee for Cops” and other community-focused gatherings.

FIRST RESPONDERS

When someone has a medical emergency, every minute counts.
Vicki has met with concerned members of our community about the lack of funding for first responders, which has translated into slow response times. As your State Senator, Vicki will advocate for increased funding for emergency responses to ensure first responders have adequate resources to save lives.
First responders risk their own lives every day to protect us. We must work together to protect and support them.

Vicki supports legislation to increase penalties for those who assault police officers and their animals, and to increase health benefits for firefighters who become afflicted with cancer due to job duties.

PROTECT FEMALE SPORTS
As a former girls’ basketball coach and health instructor, Vicki knows the undeniable biological differences between the sexes and the importance of female-only sports teams. Females should not be benched in their own sports while males take their opportunities and endanger their safety. Males should not be permitted into private spaces where females undress. She believes everyone should have the opportunity to play sports, but their team should align with their sex. Vicki is a strong supporter of female rights under Title IX, and will advocate for the rights and safety of your daughters and granddaughters.

EDUCATION

As a former school teacher, Vicki believes personal politics do not belong in the classroom. Adult agendas have been distracting from teaching our children the basics of reading, writing, and math. We need to teach students how to think critically, not what to think.
STANDING STRONG FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS
Vicki supports giving meaningful raises for teachers, who are professionals and deserve a liveable wage. Measures for school safety should include protections for teachers who are often in harm's way during classroom confrontations and school fights.

Teachers must also be equipped with classroom resources and should never be expected to use their personal paychecks to buy school supplies, and neither should parents. As your State Senator, Vicki will work to ensure that The North Carolina General Assembly requires a portion of appropriations to fund classroom supplies and that money will be allotted directly to classrooms.

As a former teacher, Vicki understands first hand that teachers know best the needs of their classrooms. With growing class sizes and integrated classrooms, every teacher should have a teacher’s aid.

PROTECTING OUR BORDER
Human traffickers, violent criminals, and drugs have been pouring over our border.
Nine North Carolinians die every day from fentanyl overdoses. This Must Stop.
US Customs and Border Protection reported that over 46,000 pounds of fentanyl was seized at the US border in the last two years. Vicki adamantly supports requiring local law enforcement to cooperate with immigration officials to end sanctuary city policies, which allow violent illegal aliens back into our communities leading to more crime.
